Story? What story?

Everyone has heard of the aged aunt who could tell stories from the past for hours on end and never repeat one - she died last year and everyone is saying "if only we had written them down"

Well now is your chance. Go visit the old (or not so old) lady or gent and take a tape recorder or a pencil and paper. Ask for your favourite story to be re-told and write it down or save it on tape. If there is more than one, then fine - the more the merrier.

When you have a rough draft, take it home and write a good version of it. Save any tapes that you may have made, as you may well need them later.

Take your good version back to your story teller and read it back, asking for comments and corrections. When you are happy with the results, have a look at the next page to see what to do next.

What should my story be about?
We are looking for stories on the following subjects:

Moonraking, legends, folklore, Slaithwaite people, mills, canals, shops, bakers, butchers, and candlestick makers.

It does not matter really, but it must have a link to Slaithwaite and it would be even better if it had some information on Moonraking.
